Our story
From humble beginnings in a small Brunswick apartment, CHAE has grown into a genre of its own — a place where centuries of Korean culinary heritage are reimagined through a modern lens, and where tradition, craft, and storytelling unfold in an intimate setting. By staying true to time-honoured recipes and ancient fermentation techniques, CHAE creates authentic jangs (fermented condiments) in a way that is rare not only in Australia, but even in Korea’s commercial dining scene. In doing so, CHAE continues to push the boundaries of what a dining experience can be.
